Wannacry: the beat goes on…

Whether criminal or state sponsored, the relentless drum beat of cyber attacks continues to build in intensity and severity. Honda Motors recently announced it was hit by WannaCry, despite its best efforts. Apparently several older production-line ICS were infected with the WannaCry virus, resulting in a 48-hour shutdown that impacted production of about 1,000 vehicles at the Sayama engine production and assembly facility. Protecting an industrial control system environment can be a challenge, since IT and cybersecurity organizations often have little visibility into all the assets that might be in place, and legacy systems are often unprotected.
