Live Bedrock OSA Solutions Lab Demo: The Complete Manifestation of Open Secure Automation

Connecting sensors and actuators with a variety of modern and legacy protocols is one pillar of modern automation; the other is doing so at the farthest reaches of a process. The economics depend on two things: 1) remote monitoring and control to ensure near zero onsite visits, and 2) real-time process and system data to support any required onsite troubleshooting or adjustment.

In this OSA Solutions Lab webinar, you’ll see how Open Secure Automation secures interoperation of a variety of common sensor and actuator interfaces, including the following connections:

  • Ethernet to a wireless HART modem connected to an Emerson wireless HART transmitter
  • A Modbus serial interface to an Endress+Hauser Coriolis meter
  • A Modbus serial interface to a Vacon VFD
  • 4-20ma I/O to Vacon VFD

At the network level – it is all secured by mutually authenticated TLS:

  • MQTT Sparkplug B via a Starlink satellite Internet connection to a cloud hosted SCADA server
  • Local WiFi connection to controller hosted OSA View webserver
  • Samsung tablet hosting OSA View via local WiFi or cloud hosted SCADA displays via cellular modem to support “on site” technician
  • SCADA displays from a cloud hosted server on a “control center” workstation

The controller supports most common industrial protocols. It is even hosting a Flow Computer application built with libraries supplied by FLOWCAL. Intrinsic security enables safely routing a control network segment over the public Internet rather than building costly private infrastructure
