Cyber Security Means Protecting Assets from Remote-Access Threats
September 13, 2016
At Bedrock, we believe that embedded, hardware-based authentication is the best defense possible when it comes to plant OT assets. In a recent Control Design article, Jeremy Pollard focuses on the topic of protecting critical infrastructure installations when remote access is needed and/or required. He highlights a key finding that has emerged from past incidents:
“The resulting recommendations included using at least two factor authentications for remote access, which [Joe] Weiss condones. Authorizing the device being used is paramount, as well as the user. For example, it is common for oil and gas companies to release specific laptops to remote users and implement network filters based on MAC addresses.” Bedrock is the only ICS available today where cypto-based authentication is built into the entire platform through our BlackFabric® architecture, hardening remote access more effectively than IT tools can accomplish. Stay tuned – Bedrock will be deliver some exciting news this year about extending our cybersecure capabilities in ways that will revolutionize how you think about OT security.
