Bedrock and Customers Present at ARC Industry Forum 2020

January 29, 2020 |  Press Releases

Bedrock and our OSA platform have always attracted considerable attention at the ARC Industry Forum, and this year that will be truer than ever. In addition to a new OSA product announcement and OSA demonstrations, two customer presentations will focus on the value of OSA to their operations. Also, Bedrock and Green Hills ISS experts will add insight to the session on how embedded AI and security are driving the intelligent edge. Here are the highlights:

Aera Energy begins PLC migration journey based on OSA

Juan Yactayo, Aera Energy IT/OT Engineering Team Lead, will describe Aera Energy’s journey to modernize end-of-life control systems. The team successfully integrated cyber security and field support requirements for both electrical and automation systems, while finding a cost-effective and easy-to-maintain way to leverage open standards. Juan Yactayo will describe the process that brought them to Bedrock OSA.

City of Hot Springs modernizes backwash controls at water plant

The City of Hot Springs Arkansas projected that the filters on its main water treatment plant would not be adequate to handle increasing demand. They replaced the antiquated PLCs that were controlling their automatic backwash process with high-performance PLCs that also had intrinsic cyber security, synchronizing them to function consistently as a single unit. In this session, Hot Springs Utilities director Monty Ledbetter and Dee Brown, PE at Brown Engineers will present data showing dramatically improved consistency in flow rates after the PLC upgrade. Phased improvements include replacing all the controllers with new Bedrock OSA systems.

Managing data at the edge

Edge computing is emerging as the operational implementation of industrial IoT.  Green Hills Software Integrity Security Services (ISS) Co-founder and CEO David Sequino and Bedrock’s Albert Rooyakkers will participate in the session that focusses on helping companies harness the massive and rapidly growing data volumes already emerging from smart connected ecosystems in manufacturing and business. They will join others in discussing the need for processing industrial data at the edge, and the increasing demand for security and intelligence there.

Integrated Flow Computing and Process Control

And last but certainly not least, on the new product front, Bedrock will be introducing an integrated flow computer and control solution. This will integrate industry-leading Flow-Cal flow calculations with all the security and performance benefits of Open Secure Automation.
